About Cobra Insurance.?

-I was working for a company for about 6 months, I then quit because I had to move to a different state. I had Cigna Insurance through my work. My co-workers told me that within a month I would get something in the mail about Cobra Insurance, and how to sign up if i wished. I never got anything in the mail. Were they wrong? How do I sign up for this if I wanted to?If you moved it's likely that the mail didn't get forwarded. If you are still within the timeframe of signing up you need to contact your previous employer. If you are not within the timeframe it is too late because it is ultimately your responsibility.

Employers must notify plan administrators of a qualifying event within 30 days after an employee's termination.

Plan participants and beneficiaries generally must be sent an election notice not later than 14 days after the plan administrator receives notice that a qualifying event has occurred. The individual then has 60 days to decide whether to elect COBRA continuation coverage. The person has 45 days after electing coverage to pay the initial premium. If you elect coverage you must pay back to the day your policy terminated.

In addition, the group must be subject to COBRA regulations. The group must have more than 20 lives in most states.
You should always get Cobra Insurance. You never know when you could be bitten by said cobra
Call your former employer and ask about it.
