What is the difference between health insurance and medic claim policy?

-which is better or it is the same thing which one i should take for my family private or government insurance company my age is 38In Health Insurance, on hospitalization you have to pay from your pocket and get it re-imbursed from the insurer. Some medi-claim plans, offer cashless facility and on hospitalization you don't have to pay anything if you are eligible for the benefit. However, every where exclusions are there, particularly pre-existing diseases. Some health insurers do mention in their brochure that pre-existing diseases shall be covered after 3 years.

Ofcourse, hospitals are likely to charge more if you have a mediclaim(cashless facility) health policy.

I would suggest you consider LICs Jeevan Arogya, a comprehensive health insurance, where you can include your aged parents/parents-in-law upto the age of 75 years. This too is a medi-claim health plan but don't offer cashless facility. You have to pay and get it reimbursed. The benefit they offer is lumpsum or defined irrespective of the actual cost. For more details visit:www.licindia.com
